9. Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. is likely flying under the radar at big flat tracks, but he’s a great performer on this sub-track type. Since 2013 at these venues he’s only once finished below 11th. Pocono ranks as one of his very best tracks. He swept the races in 2014 and since 2013 he has a series best 3.9 average finish. 8. Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. is a strong performer at big flat tracks. At both of them he’s proven he can run well. At Pocono he’s a recent winner (spring 2015) but since his victory he’s been unlucky. Last summer he started on the pole, led 16 laps but on lap 19 following a pit stop/restart while he was running in the top five he had a flat tire and pounded the wall (finished 38th). In the spring race he had all sorts of problems (hit on pit road, got a flat tire under caution after hitting debris) and finished 19th. In August 2015 he was top 3 good but ran out of gas at the end which relegated him to a 19th place finish. In spring 2015 he led 97 laps and raced his way to victory lane. At Indy last year he finished 8th, in 4 of the last 5 races at that venue he’s finished 11th or better.
