Daytona 500 Fantasy NASCAR – The Low Tier
Landon Cassill – Landon Cassill has some dark horse fantasy value at plate tracks but he’s a risky fantasy option. In 5 of the last 12 races on this track type he’s finished 13th or better. When he’s finished outside of that range his results were typically pretty bad. Last summer at Daytona he finished an asterisk mark 31st. You can’t read into that result much because he had electrical problems at the time of the first competition caution that sent him to the garage. In the 2016 Daytona 500 he had a 22nd place average running position and finished 23rd. In summer 2015 he had a good race and finished 13th. In the two races prior to that he was involved in an accident or had an engine failure. His next most recent incident free race was in the 2014 Daytona 500 and in that event he finished 12th. At Talladega last year he had results of 11th and 21st. (Yahoo C Driver / DraftKings $5,500)

David Ragan – David Ragan is a former Daytona winner who has quality dark horse potential among his tier. In three of his last four Daytona races he’s finished between 12th and 17th. Last summer at Daytona he finished 16th, in the 2016 Daytona 500 he finished 29th. In 2015 he had results of 12th and 17th. (Yahoo C Driver / DraftKings $6,000)

Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher will make his JTG Daugherty Racing debut at Daytona. He’ll essentially be driving in “RCR B Quality” equipment which is a step up from his 2016 ride. At Daytona he has a great chance to have his best result, in fact it’s pretty close to lock that will happen. Last year at Daytona he set the bar about as low as it can go. In both races he wrecked. Last summer on lap 90 while he was running in the mid-twenties he was collected in the “Big One” which led to his last place finish. In the 2016 Daytona 500 he finished 39th after wrecking. At Talladega last year Buescher had results of 22nd and 37th. (Yahoo B Driver / DraftKings $6,400)
