Talladega NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

NOTE: Rain brought out a red flag about 15 minutes into practice.

Jimmie Johnson – Practiced running by himself at the start of practice. This is how he typically practices at plate tracks.

Joe Gibbs Racing / Furniture Row Racing – Practiced together as a manufacturer.

Penske Racing – Early in practice Kesleowski, Logano and Blaney worked together and led a mixed draft around Talladega.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Led a mini-draft at the start of practice. He looked really racy in the pack. Said he didn’t like his car very much but it’s probably fine.

Kevin Harvick – Using the same car he used in the Daytona 500.

AJ Allmendinger – Ran 8 laps by himself and said everything ran fine.

Martin Truex Jr. – Said he got done what he wanted to do in practice. Said he felt pretty confident he could run up front.

Joey Logano – His crew chief is suspended for the next two races.

Chris Buescher – Ran by himself a few laps to shake down his car.
