Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Bristol
Every week in NASCAR there’s drivers who have problems in the race and walk away with an asterisk mark result. Understanding misleading finishes and knowing how good drivers truly were can help give you the edge on your competition. Many fantasy racers just look at results and assume that’s how good drivers were. This post explains who had a misleading result last summer at Bristol, and how good they truly were.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott was a top ten contender last summer at Bristol but he finished an asterisk mark 18th. With about a quarter of the race remaining while he was running in 6th he was involved in an accident. Prior to his problem he finished 4th in Stage #1 and would’ve finished in the top ten in Stage #2 if pit strategy didn’t come into play.
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. was a strong performer last summer at Bristol but he finished a misleading 21st. Around the lap 200 caution while he was in 5th he made a second pit stop for a tire issue. During that stop he got a tire violation penalty which dropped him multiple laps down and doomed him to his lack luster result.
