Asterisk Mark Report – Bristol
Kyle Busch – Last summer at Bristol, Kyle Busch had a great car, but when the checkered flag waved he finished an asterisk mark 20th. “Performance Wise”, his car could’ve potentially been the best, but his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 3 he was involved in an accident and when the race went back to green following the caution he was still on pit road, and this dropped him two laps down. Busch had a great car though and once he got back on the lead lap following the Stage #2 caution he worked his way up through the field. Then with 68 laps to go he had contact with Truex Jr. while passing him for 2nd and that later led to his flat tire with 20 laps to go which doomed him to his poor result. In the two Bristol races prior to the race last summer he raced his way to victory lane.
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. rarely has an incident free race at Bristol, and last summer was no exception. In 9 of the last 11 races here he’s finished outside the top 20. Last August he was a top five contender but late in the race he was wrecked while running in 2nd which led to his dismal 30th place finish.
Aric Almirola – Last summer at Bristol, Aric Almirola had a great car but he finished a misleading 31st. In the race he finished 5th in Stage #1, 4th in Stage #2 but then on lap 336 while he was running in 5th he was black flagged because of smoke coming from his car.
