The Fantasy NASCAR Low Tier – Bristol
Landon Cassill – Landon Cassill is capable of finishing in the 20’s at Bristol, if he avoids trouble. In 5 of the last 7 races at “Thunder Valley” he’s finished between 20th to 26th. Over his last three races here he sports a 23.7 average finish and a 25th place average running position. Earlier this year, Cassill was a mid-twenties driver. When the checkered flag waved he finished 26th and had a 26th place average running position. Last year he came home with results of 25th and 20th.
Matt Tifft – At Bristol, attrition will be Matt Tifft’s friend and he needs to make sure he dodges it. Earlier this year at Bristol he didn’t have that great of race. He finished 27th, had a 27th place average running position and earned the 28th best driver rating. I’ll note his race wasn’t incident free. Shortly before Stage #2 ending he spun after contact with Chase Elliott which brought out a caution. I’ll note I really don’t think it had a big impact on his result because he wasn’t running that well anyways. On Saturday night, I would view him as a mid-twenties driver.
Corey LaJoie – Unless attrition helps him, I would look for Corey LaJoie to be about a 25th to 30th place driver. That’s basically his 2019 weekly level of performance. At Bristol, LaJoie has a pretty troubling track record and his average finish is 29th. In the last two races here he’s had problems, in the three prior to that he finished between 24th to 28th. Earlier this year, LaJoie never ran well and wrecked which led to his 34th place finish. Last summer he also finished 34th after completing less than half the laps because of electrical problems. In the three races prior to that he had results of 25th, 28th and 24th.
Ross Chastain – Don’t set the benchmark too high for Ross Chastian at Bristol. I would consider a mid to high-twenties result for him to be a successful day. This spring at Bristol he didn’t run well and when the race reached its conclusion he finished 29th and had a 28th place average running position. Last summer there was a ton of attrition and he managed to finished 26th, but take note he finished 8 laps down. In spring 2018 he completed 3 laps but was involved in the early “Big One” which led to his 39th place finish.
