Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Homestead
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson is a super-elite performer at Homestead who’s been a serious contender to win many of the recent races. Last year, Larson had a phenomenal car, but he finished an asterisk mark 13th. On lap 193 while he was battling Truex Jr. for 2nd he got into the wall and brought out the caution. After that he never ran as well again. Prior to his problem he led 45 laps, finished 2nd in Stage #1 and won Stage #2. If his race would’ve been incident free, I think he clearly was going to finish in the top five.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin was a top five contender last year at Homestead, but he finished a misleading 12th. The late caution/ restart was very unfavorable for him. With 29 laps to go he was running in 4th among drivers who completed their final pit stop. With some drivers not pitting and that caution coming out when it did, it cycled him back to 8th for the final restart. From the race I’ll note Hamlin started on the pole, led 41 laps, finished 12th and had a 7th place average running position. Additionally, he finished 6th in Stage #1 and 8th in Stage #2.
Daniel Suarez – Daniel Suarez didn’t have a good race last year in the season finale and to cap off his evening he spun with about 21 laps to go. At the time of his late spin he was running in the high-teens. When the checkered flag waved he finished 30th. His average running position was 22nd.
