Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Texas
Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie Johnson was a top five contender last fall at Texas, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at his asterisk mark 34th place finish. In the race he finished 3rd in Stage #2 and on lap 180 at the time of his demise when he went sliding up into the wall he was running around 3rd.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin had a fast car last fall at Texas and was a top ten contender, but he finished a misleading 28th. On lap 80 while he was running in 6th he spun into the grass and destroyed his front splitter which ruined his afternoon.
William Byron – Remember when Bubba Wallace spun out on purpose last fall at Texas? That happened during a pit cycle and it really burned William Byron who was having a great afternoon. In the race he finished 10th in Stage #2 and on lap 224 which was shortly before the extended green flag pit cycle he was running in 4th. If his afternoon would’ve been incident free, I think he was clearly a top ten contender. When the race reached its conclusion he finished an asterisk mark 17th.
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski was likely a top ten contender last fall at Texas, but he had a short race and finished 39th. On lap 53 while he was running just short of the top ten he totaled his car in a crash.
