Bristol All-Star Race Confidence Ranking Picks
1) Ryan Blaney / Starting 3rd / DraftKings $8,000
Ryan Blaney is an elite performer at Bristol who’ll be a factor. This race is made for an aggressive driver, and he certainly fits the billing. It also doesn’t hurt that he always rolls into Bristol with a lot of speed and in 4 of the last 5 races he’s led +60 laps or more. This spring at Bristol, Blaney had a great car but he crashed while running in 2nd which led to a 40th place finish. From the race I’ll note he led 60 laps and finished 2nd in Stage #2 before his demise. Last summer at Bristol, Blaney was solid. He finished 10th, had an 8th place average running position, earned the 8th best driver rating and his Green Flag Average Speed ranked as the 8th best. In spring 2019, he finished 4th, earned the 2nd best driver rating, had a 3rd place average running position and led a race high 158 laps.
2) Joey Logano / Starting 12th / DraftKings $9,400
Joey Logano has been a gladiator at the “Last Great Coliseum” and he’s swung his sword (the trophy) a few times under the lights. With a million dollars on the line, you know he’ll be going all out and will race with 110% intensity. This spring at Bristol, Logano had a great car but wrecked late while battling Chase Elliott for the lead which led to his asterisk mark 21st place finish. If that didn’t happen, I think he would’ve had a good chance to win. Last summer, Logano finished 16th but you can’t read into that result since he made an early unexpected pit stop on lap 68 while running in 9th which dropped him 3 laps down. In spring 2019, Logano had a stellar showing. He earned the best driver rating, finished 3rd, had a 3rd place average running position and led 146 laps. Also from the race I’ll note he finished 4th in Stage #1 and won Stage #2.
3) Chase Elliott / Starting 13th / DraftKings $9,700
Chase Elliott should be on your short list of favorites at Bristol. He’s run extremely well here, and this spring he nearly raced his way to victory lane before wrecking while battling for the lead late which led to his 22nd place finish. From the race I’ll note he led 88 laps, won the first two Stages and had a race best 4.5 average running position. In summer 2019, Elliott had a great car. He earned the best driver rating, had the best average running position (3.5), finished 5th, led 33 laps and his Green Flag Average Speed ranked as the 4th best. Additionally, Elliott finished 2nd in Stage #1 and finished 6th in Stage #2. In spring 2019, Elliott ran well despite his race not being incident free. He started on the pole and led the opening 38 laps until he spun out while leading in a multi-car accident. After that he wasn’t as competitive and he complained about his steering wheel being “heavy” like he had a power steering problem. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 11th, had a 10th place average running position and earned the 10th best driver rating. In summer 2018, Elliott finished 3rd and led 112 laps.
