Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Las Vegas
Chase Elliott – This spring at Las Vegas, Chase Elliott was the class of the field, but he finished an asterisk mark 26th. In the race he won Stage #1, won Stage #2, led 60 laps but with 47 laps to go he had a flat tire because of a valve stem issue and spun. If Elliott didn’t have that problem, there’s no question he was poised to be the driver to beat.
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. had a phenomenal car this spring at Las Vegas, but you wouldn’t know that by his 20th place finish. “Performance Wise”, Truex Jr. was a contender to win, but his race wasn’t incident free. In the race he finished 2nd in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2 but then in the final Stage after he just won the race off pit road he had to pit again to tighten lug nuts. That put him back in traffic and then on lap 175 he got into the wall and got a tire rub, and then two laps later he got into it harder which brought out a caution.
Ryan Blaney – This spring at Las Vegas, Blaney had a phenomenal car and was poised to be the winner if the final caution didn’t come out. During that caution he pitted from the lead and that proved to be the wrong decision and it led to his 11th place finish. In the race, Blaney finished 4th in Stage #1, 2nd in Stage #2, had the best Green Flag Average Speed and ranked as the 2nd Fastest Driver Late In A Run.
