Daytona Advance #1
Bubba Wallace
Daytona 500 Bottom Line – Bubba Wallace is a strong superspeedway performer who’ll be a factor in the Daytona 500. In the Next Gen at Daytona, Wallace is tied for having the best average finish (9.3), he’s one of just two drivers who swept the top ten last year (5.5 average finish) and minus the 2023 “500” where he had multiple problems, including a bad bump while leading, he’s finished in the top 12 every race and has an impressive 7.2 average finish. In 2024 at big superspeedways, Wallace was elite and minus the spring Talladega race where he crashed in the Toyota mini-pack, Wallace finished in the top ten every race and had a 6.7 average finish.
Daytona Track History – Bubba Wallace has performed at a high-level at Daytona, and he’s also among the safest options. Daytona is home to Wallace’s best overall average finish (11.9), and in 14 of his 15 races he’s finished in the top 20. In 4 of the last 7 Daytona races, Wallace has finished in the top 6 with his average finish over that stretch being a series best 8.3. Last summer, Wallace had a solid showing and ran well throughout. In the race, Wallace finished 6th, earned the 6th best Driver Rating and had a 10.9 average running position. Last February, Wallace was a factor. In the race, Wallace finished 2nd in Stage #1, finished 8th in Stage #2, earned the 5th best Driver Rating and then finished 5th overall. In summer 2023, Wallace drove in “Points Protection Mode” and finished 12th. In the 2023 “500”, Wallace was fast but finished an asterisk mark 20th. In the race, Wallace led 5 laps but while leading on lap 52, Wallace got a bad bump that led to the #23 slapping the wall hard, making an unexpected pit stop. I’ll note, Wallace was up to 9th at the start of the final lap in overtime, but then he crashed again which led to his 20th. Over the three Daytona races prior to that, Wallace had results of 11th, 2nd and 2nd.
