On lap 2, Kyle Busch passed Denny Hamlin for the lead. This was the only lap Busch led all day. Busch passed him on the back straightaway under breaking him heading into the chicane.

On lap 3, Denny Hamlin resumed the lead and then led the next 7 laps.

On lap 3 after just getting passed for the lead, Kyle Busch radioed his team concerns over flat spotting his right front tire.

Notable Moment: On lap 6 it was mentioned that Brad Keselowski and Tyler Reddick both missed the back stretch chicane which resulted in a “Stop and go” penalty on the track.

On lap 10, Martin Truex Jr. got the lead. Truex then led the next 3 laps.

Notable Moment: On lap 10, Denny Hamlin developed a tire rub after some contact with Truex Jr. when he was getting passed for the lead. On the following lap he came to pit road. This wasn’t a huge deal since it was shortly before the end of the opening Stage and many teams planned to pit around this time window.

Notable Moment: Under caution during Stage #1, Martin Truex Jr. shut off his engine and lost a couple of positions since he didn’t maintain speed.
