Circuit of the Americas – Echo Park Grand Prix Betting Preview

I am attending the race today and will need to spend a few hours in the car, so my card will be limited. Hopefully I get to the race in time to fire off a few more bets. I will make sure to post them here as well as my twitter page. Let’s go road course racing!!

Best Bets:

Over 29.5 lead lap finishers (-110 4 units) – I’m honestly baffled at this one. There are 40 cars starting this race and lap times have been over 2 minutes. So even the worst cars won’t get lapped here unless they have severe trouble. In order for this bet to lose, there would have to be 11 cars crash out or have severe trouble. I really can’t see that happening today.

Chase Elliott (+250 to win, 3 units) – Lets not overthink this one today. Chase won five straight road races coming into the Daytona Road Course this spring. He dominated that race and was poised to win before a phantom rain caution with less than 15 laps to go. The #9 team then had a poor pit stop, got caught in traffic, and collected some damage before finishing 21st. He is far and away the best road racer on the Cup circuit, so let’s bet on him winning his sixth race in seven tries on this track type.

Other Bets:

Kurt Busch (33-1 to win 0.5 units, Top 10 +150 2 units) – Kurt is a very capable road racer. He was running 2nd at Daytona RC this spring before he wrecked himself on the tricky section of infield turns. He fell all the way back to 27th on that lap but worked his way back to a 4th place finish. I will be looking to bet him T10 later today when I see those odds available. He has six Top 10s in his last nine road races.

Denny Hamlin (12-1, 0.5 units, Top 5 +200 2 units) – Denny has been the best Cup driver this year, with only one finish outside the Top 12, which was an unlucky wreck at Talladega. He’s not great at the Charlotte Roval, but has finished T5 in his most recent four road races, excluding the Roval. He is also a candidate for a T5 finish, and I love his odds at +200.

AJ Allmendinger (+165 Top 10, 2 units) – The “Dinger” is an incredible road racer, probably one of the best on the track today. He is driving a Kaulig Racing car, which is unproven. He landed a 7th Place finish at Daytona RC this spring in a Kaulig car, so I know he can get it done.

Austin Cindric (+140 Top 10, 2 units) – Cindric has been one of the best road racers on the Xfinity circuit since he started driving in the series. He will be driving in full Penske equipment, which is one of the best cars on the track. I will take him to finish T10 with “plus odds” every chance I can.
