Martinsville Fantasy Spin – Chase Elliott will be a contender at Martinsville, so make sure he’s prominently on your fantasy NASCAR radar. Elliott’s a recent Martinsville winner and in terms of “Performance”, he’s easily one of the best. Elliott had a misleading result last fall and in fall 2019, but if those races were incident free, Elliott would likely have 6 straight top five’s at “The Paper Clip.” Last fall, Elliott was a standout performer. In the race, Elliott won Stage #1, won Stage #2, led 289 laps, had a 3.3 average running position, had the best Green Flag Speed and the best Total Speed Ranking. Unfortunately, Elliott didn’t have an incident free race and finished an asterisk mark 16th after getting spun late while running in 3rd. In spring 2021, Elliott finished 4th in Stage #1, 4th in Stage #2, had a 6.3 average running position, the 4th best Total Speed Ranking and then finished 2nd when the checkered flag waved. In fall 2020, Elliott put on a display of domination. In terms of speed analytics, Elliott had the best Total Speed Ranking and his speed over the segments were 2,1,1 and 2. 2) William Byron / Start 5th/ Projected Finish Range 1-6/ Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Speed Rankings/ 5 Lap Average – 4th/ 10 Lap Average – 2nd/ 15 Lap Average – 1st
Martinsville Fantasy Spin – At Martinsville, William Byron should be high on your radar. Byron is always fast, and in terms of season to date green flag speed he ranks 3rd. At Martinsville, Byron has been very competitive. Byron was one of just two drivers who swept the top five last year, and in 4 of the last 5 races he’s finished in the top 8. Byron also has a Martinsville runner-up on his resume back in fall 2019. Over the last five Martinsville races minus fall 2020 where he had a misleading result, Byron has a 4.8 average finish and a 6.8 average running position. Last fall, Byron finished 4th in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2, had a 5.3 average running position and finished 5th when the checkered flag waved. In terms of speed analytics, Byron had the 4th best Green Flag Speed and the 4th best Total Speed Ranking. In spring 2021, Byron was very competitive. In the race he finished 6th in Stage #1, 7th in Stage #2, had a 6.8 average running position, the 5th best Total Speed Ranking and then finished 4th when the checkered flag waved. One advantage Byron has on much of the field this weekend is track time! On Thursday night in the Truck series, Byron raced his way to victory lane after starting deep in the field.

Martinsville Fantasy Spin – Ryan Blaney is an elite performer at “The Paper Clip” who’ll be tough to beat. Blaney’s never won at Martinsville, but his level of performance in recent races has been extremely high. Over the last six races, Blaney has a series best 5.8 average finish, a 6.9 average running position and he’s finished in the top 11 every race. Last fall when Blaney’s Playoff hopes were on the line, he didn’t perform up to his typical Martinsville standard, and in that race he finished 11th, had a 13.6 average running position and his Total Speed Ranking was the 17th best. In spring 2021,Blaney had one of the best cars, but finished an asterisk mark 11th. In the race, Blaney won Stage #1, won Stage #2, led 157 laps, had the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking and was the 3rd Fastest Driver Late In A Run. While he was running in 2nd around lap 450, Blaney got a pit penalty which led to his asterisk mark result. In fall 2020, Blaney had a great car and overcame a speeding penalty around lap 104 when he was running around 6th. In the race, Blaney finished 4th in Stage #2, 2nd overall, had a 6.8 average running position, led 36 laps and ran 51 fastest laps. In spring 2020, Blaney was off early, but was great late! In the race he finished around 20th in Stage #1, finished 2nd in Stage #2, led 34 laps and finished 2nd overall. Him finishing that high is remarkable when you consider around lap 330 while leading he got a pit penalty which sent him back to 18th. In 2019, Blaney swept the top five and had results of 4th and 5th. One key attribute you have to love about Blaney is his 2022 weekly level of performance. Blaney is leading the points, has the best overall green flag speed and the best driver rating. In practice, Byron had great speed over a long run and his 30 lap average was the 2nd best.
