The Low Tier – Richmond
Cody Ware – Thanks to attrition, Cody Ware has finished between 22nd to 26th in 4 of the last 5 races heading into the weekend. That said, the one outlier over that stretch was at New Hampshire which is a similar track and he finished 30th there. At Richmond, Ware has two starts under his belt and has back-to-back 36th’s. This spring en route to his 36th, Ware crashed on lap 246 while running in the low 30’s. In spring 2021 in his first Richmond start, Ware also finished 36th.
Landon Cassill – At Richmond, Landon Cassill will be driving the #77. Cassill hasn’t raced at “The Action Track” on the Cup level since 2019 and in that race, he finished 28th. In 2022, Cassill has driven at one similar track that has correlation and at Phoenix in the spring he finished 30th and had a 31.6 average running position. For the season over his four combined Cup starts, Cassill has a 21.5 average finish.
JJ Yeley – At Richmond, “Michigan Menace”, JJ Yeley will be returning behind the wheel of the #15. At “The Action Track” over his last five races, JJ Yeley has finished in either 33rd or 34th. This spring, Yeley also drove the #15 at Richmond and in that event, Yeley finished 33rd, had a 33.4 average running position and had the 35th best Total Speed Ranking. New Hampshire is a similar track and last month at that venue he finished 29th. At Richmond, look for Yeley to be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver, but lean more towards the higher end of that range.
BJ McLeod – At Richmond, look for BJ McLeod to be a low to mid-thirties driver. McLeod has raced in the last three Richmond races and over the combined events his average finish is 32nd. This spring, McLeod finished 34th, had a 34.4 average running position and had the 36th best Total Speed Ranking. In 2021 his results were 30th and 32nd.
