Bristol Dirt Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Kevin Harvick
Bristol Dirt Fantasy Spin – Kevin Harvick doesn’t seem to be a fan of dirt racing, and I don’t think that will change in his Bristol Dirt farewell. I don’t see a lot of upside out of him this weekend and I think a mid-teens finish is likely about the best-case scenario, and that’s asking a lot.
Bristol Dirt Track History – Last year at Bristol Dirt, Kevin Harvick was a complete letdown en route to a 34th. In the race, Harvick got lapped before the lap #14 competition (eased up early in the mud), finished about 34th in Stage #1 but then in Stage #2 around lap 98 when he was running around 25th, Harvick was involved in a multi-car accident that marked the end of his race and led to his 34th. In 2021, Harvick was mediocre by his standards. In the race he finished 15th, had a 15.1 average running position, was the 18th Fastest Driver Late In A Run and had the 17th best Total Speed Ranking. In terms of speed over segments, Harvick had speed rankings of 14th, 19th, 13th and 17th. I’ll note, Harvick’s race wasn’t incident free. He started 6th and on lap 54 while he was around 10th, he got some damage in the Larson/Bell incident and that knocked out the toe of the #4. After that, Harvick simply wasn’t as competitive.
Corey LaJoie
Bristol Dirt Fantasy Spin – At Bristol Dirt, I think Corey LaJoie has high-teens potential, if things go well. He’s no dirt track ringer, but the #7 team is outperforming expectations on most weekends so hopefully that trend can continue.
Bristol Dirt Track History – Last year at Bristol Dirt, Corey LaJoie didn’t have a bad afternoon for a team of his tier, but he didn’t do anything special. In the race, LaJoie finished 19th and had a 25.2 average running position. I’ll note, LaJoie was involved in a caution, but it didn’t seem to really impact him. In 2021, LaJoie had a forgettable performance and crashed. In the race he started 30th and then on lap 40 while he was back around the low 30’s, Aric Almirola hit a “Durtle”, spun out and then Corey LaJoie was collected in the carnage that ensued which led to his 38th.
Josh Berry
Bristol Dirt Fantasy Spin – Josh Berry is fresh off a runner-up at Richmond and so far in the #9, he’s finished in the top ten 50% of the time. Has Berry been as good as his track record, nope! That said, Berry might just sneak in another good finish this weekend. The #9 with Elliott behind the wheel was one of 4 drivers who are 2 for 2 at finishing in the top ten here.
Bristol Dirt Track History – Josh Berry has never competed at Bristol Dirt.
