Charlotte Group 1 NASCAR Driver Practice Notes

Brad Keselowski – Keselowski had good long run speed. He was said to be happy with his car. Some thought he had the best long run car in Group 1. His 25-lap average was the best in Group 1.

Carson Hocevar – Carson Hocevar had good speed and had the best overall practice speed in Group 1. In Group 1, Hocevar ranked 4th for 10, 15 and 20-lap averages. During his qualifying lap, Hocevar spun out and as a result he’ll be starting 39th on Sunday. He didn’t hit anything.

Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs unloaded fast and had good speed. In Group 1, Gibbs ranked 2nd for 10 and 15-lap averages. His 20-lap average ranked 5th. Gibbs was said to have no real complaints with his car. Gibbs said it felt like his car was good and he was happy with his race speed.

AJ Allmendinger – In Group 1, Allmendinger had the best 10,15 and 20-lap averages.

Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin was reported to be tight early. Hamlin was shown to have some slight contact with the wall in practice. In Group 1, Hamlin had the 6th best 25-lap average. Hamlin ran +41 laps to start so he should have a good feel for his car.
