Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Michigan (2024)
Kyle Larson – Last year at Michigan, I would argue Kyle Larson looked to be the class of the field but he finished an asterisk mark 34th. In the race, Larson led the most laps (41), was the leader on lap 112 but then during a caution just after that he got shuffled back into traffic due to pit strategy and then proceeded to wreck shortly after a restart. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Larson ranked 2nd.
Christopher Bell – Christopher Bell was a top five performer last year at Michigan but he finished a misleading 35th. In the race, Bell started 3rd, had speed rankings of 7th and 6th over the first two segments but then late in Stage #2 while he was back in the mid-teens due to pit strategy cycling him back, Bell was caught up in a restart wreck.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin finished 9th last year at Michigan but you can get out an asterisk mark for that result. Hamlin was a top five performer but on lap 38 while running in 2nd, he spun into the grass and that put him behind for the rest of the afternoon.
Ross Chastain – Ross Chastain was a top ten contender last year at Michigan but he finished a misleading 25th. In overtime #1 while running in 11th, Chastain was spun which led to his misleading result. In the race, Chastain finished 10th in Stage #1, finished 2nd in Stage #2, had an 11.5 average running position and ranked 12th for Total Speed Rankings.
