Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Chicago Street 2024

Shane van Gisbergen – Shane van Gisbergen might’ve just been the best last year at Chicago Street but he finished last! In the race, SVG started 5th, won Stage #1, led 9 laps, left pit road during the Stage #1 pit stop in 5th but was then promptly swept up in a wreck early in Stage #2 when Chase Briscoe had an out of control moment and had contact with him, causing the #16 to slap the wall hard. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, SVG ranked #1.
Christopher Bell – Christopher Bell was a standout performer last year at Chicago Street but he finished a misleading 37th. In the race, Bell started 7th, led the 2nd most laps (14), had the 3rd best average running position (6.5) and was the leader on lap 40 before major field flipping took place which dropped him back to the teens. On lap 55 while he was bouncing back and driving up thru the field with ease, Bell was up to 6th but then he got into the wall hard, dooming himself to his 37th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Bell ranked 2nd.
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson was a top five performer last year at Chicago Street but he finished 39th. On lap 34 while running in 3rd, Larson locked up his brakes and shot right into a tire barrier, marking the end of his race. In Stage #1 prior to that, Larson finished 5th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Larson ranked 9th.
Chase Briscoe – Chase Briscoe showed potential last year at Chicago Street and even looked top five good for a portion but he ultimately finished 32nd. In the race, Briscoe started 22nd, somehow drove up to 8th on lap 5, finished 4th in Stage #1, was in 6th on lap 25 but then he had an out of control moment on that lap and slammed into the wall. Briscoe never ran as well after that and also got into the tire barriers at least twice.
