Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Sonoma (2024)

Denny Hamlin – How good was Denny Hamlin last year at Sonoma? It’s easy to say he likely wasn’t 38th place bad. In the race, Hamlin completed just 2-laps before his engine blew up, leading to his last place finish. I would chalk it up as a “No lessons learned” afternoon.

Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs had a short afternoon last summer at Sonoma and finished 37th. “Performance Wise”, I would say Gibbs looked to be a top ten contender. In the race, Gibbs started 10th, had the 7th best Total Speed ranking, was in 11th on lap 16 but then that lap he slammed into the wall, which marked the end of his race.

Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch was a clear cut top five contender last summer at Sonoma but he finished a misleading 12th. On the last lap while running in 5th, Ross Chastain spun him and then in the telecast it was mentioned he also stumbled on fuel.
