On Sunday afternoon, NASCAR will be returning to Iowa for the Corn 350. Iowa is a .875-mile oval with progressive banking. I view Iowa as a “Shorter Flat Track”, with the very best comp track being Richmond (Shorter-Flat Track Total Speed Rankings since 2024).

On Saturday, practice was held for Iowa. Teams had 25 minutes, and keep in mind teams have different agendas Make sure you check out our Iowa Practice NotesIowa 10,15,20,25 and 30 Lap Average Speed Cheat SheetIowa Group Speed Rankings and Iowa Practice Speeds and 10-Lap Averages.

Here’s the Iowa Qualifying Results/ Starting Lineup

Iowa Full Field Fantasy Rankings

1) Kyle Larson
Start 3rd / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – High
Iowa Outlook – Kyle Larson is heating up and at Iowa, look for the #5 to be fast and be a factor. Last summer at Iowa, Larson might’ve just been the best, but he finished an asterisk mark 34th. In the race, Larson started on the pole, led 80 laps, finished 2nd in Stage #1, won Stage #2 but then to begin the last Stage, Larson crashed shortly after a restart while running around 5th, which led to his 34th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Larson ranked 6th but take note his speed over the segments were 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then 34th. Since 2024 at shorter-flat tracks minus Iowa, Larson has a 6.4 average finish and ranks 7th in terms of track Type Total Speed Rankings (overall). In practice, the #5 was a stopwatch standout and Larson ranked 2nd for 20, 25 and 30-lap averages.

2) Christopher Bell
Start 17th / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Iowa Outlook – Christopher Bell is the premiere shorter-flat track racer and at Iowa, the #20 will be dialed in and dangerous. Since 2024 at shorter-flat tracks, Bell has 3-wins, the best average finish (3.9), the best average running position (6.2), the best Driver Rating and he’s averaged leading the most laps per race (83.1). This spring at Phoenix which is the only shorter-flat track visited so far in 2025, Bell finished 1st, led 105 laps and had the best Total Speed Ranking. Overall in terms of speed at shorter-flat tracks going back to last year, Bell has the best Total Speed Ranking, which is highlighted by him ranking #1 in 3 of the last 4 races. Last summer at Iowa, Bell started in the back after a crash in practice, finished 4th, earned the 6th best Driver Rating and ranked 9th in terms of Total Speed Rankings. Over the 4th segment, Bell ranked as having the 4th fastest car on the track. In practice, Steve Letarte thought that the #20 was the best car, hands down.

3) Ryan Blaney
Start 6th / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Iowa Outlook – Ryan Blaney’s a super-elite shorter-flat track performer and after the display of domination he put on the field last summer at Iowa, he’ll be a favorite. Last summer en route to victory lane, Blaney won Stage #1, finished 4th in Stage #2, had a race best 2.6 average running position, led the most laps (201) and earned the best Driver Rating by a wide margin. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Blaney ranked #1. Since 2024 at shorter-flat tracks, Blaney has the 2nd best Track Type Total Speed Ranking and in 4 of the last 5 races, he’s ranked in the top 3 for speed. In practice, Blaney was fast and ranked 4th for both 25 and 30-lap averages.
