Watkins Glen Group 1 NASCAR Practice Notes
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson had really good speed in practice. In Group 1, Larson had the fastest lap 6 and 7. In terms of averages in his Group, Larson ranked 2nd for 5-lap averages and 3rd for 10-lap averages. Larson said it felt like his car drives good in practice and is close. He also said his setup is similar to Byron’s.
Michael McDowell – Michael McDowell had really good speed and looks fast this weekend. McDowell said his car was close and he’s in the game. McDowell had the 3rd best 5-lap average in Group 1.
Justin Haley – Justin Haley had surprise speed and had the best 5,10 and 15-lap averages in Group 1. Haley was happy with his car.
Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher looked pretty solid in practice. Buescher had the 5th best 5-lap average, the 5th best 10-lap average and the 4th best 15-lap average (of 4). Buescher was happy with how practice went. He said his fire off speed was better than last year.
Shane van Gisbergen – SVG had solid pace and had the 6th best 5-lap average and the 4th best 10-lap average in Group 1. SVG said he was pretty happy with his car.
