Michael McDowell who won the pole selected to start in the outside lane. McDowell led the opening 40 laps.

Big: On lap 3, John H Nemechek and Cody Ware had contact, and spun which brought out the first caution. They were both back in the 30’s at the time.

Big: On lap 17, the caution came out when AJ Allmendinger and Derek Kraus both spun out.

Notable: Following the lap 17 caution, mixed pit strategy ensued. The top 12 cars didn’t pit, and Brad Keselowski pitted twice because of a loose wheel. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was caught speeding at this time.
