Gateway Group 1 Practice Notes

Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski tested at Gateway a few months ago and it was mentioned to really help the #6 team. In Group 1, Keselowski had the best 10-lap average. He never made a +15-lap run. Burton viewed Keselowski to have the best car in the Group. Keselowski was pretty happy with his car.

Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs unloaded fast and had good fire off speed. In Group 1, Gibbs had the best 5-lap average. His 10 and 15-lap averages ranked as the 2nd best. In Group 1, Gibbs had the 2nd best 25-lap average (among 4 drivers who reached that lap count in the Group).  Gibbs did a 40-lap run. Gibbs said he was a little bit tight.

Ryan Preece – Ryan Preece started off with a long run so he should have a good feel for his car. Over an extended run, Preece logged many of the fastest lap times. Preece had the best 30-lap average.

Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch was way down the speed charts in Group 1 practice.

Zane Smith – In Group 1, Smith ranked 3rd in terms of 15-lap averages. His 10-lap average ranked as the 4th best. Smith said practice went well.

Michael McDowell – McDowell had good speed in practice and in Group 1, he ranked #1 for 15 and 20-lap averages.
