Ty Gibbs
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Outlook – At the Charlotte Roval, look for Ty Gibbs to have a strong showing and be a top ten contender if he can avoid trouble. Gibbs is a strong road course racer, and he’s been a factor to win here in the past. This year at road courses, the #54 has been fast and over the last four races on this track type his average Speed Ranking is 5.25. In terms of the results column this year minus tough afternoons at COTA and Watkins Glen his average finish is 6.6, highlighted by a runner-up at Chicago.
Charlotte Roval History – Ty Gibbs is a capable performer at the Charlotte Roval. His Next Gen Speed Ranking is 13th but due to misleading results in 2 of the 3 races his average finish is 20.3. Last year, Gibbs finished 35th but there’s no need to read into that result since his race ended early due to transmission problems. In the race, Gibbs started 19th, finished 7th in Stage #1 (didn’t pit prior to the Stage end), restarted Stage #2 about 28th, climbed up to about 16th on lap 47 but then shortly after that transmission issues parked him for the rest of the race on lap 56, leading to his 35th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Gibbs ranked 16th. In 2023, Gibbs finished 4th, had the 3rd best average running position (5.4) and earned the 3rd best Driver Rating. In terms of speed stats, Gibbs had the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking, the 3rd best Green Flag Speed and then ranked 4th for Speed Late In A Run. It was a stellar showing for the #54 team. In 2022 in a pre-rookie start, Gibbs had a 15.9 average running position, the 16th best Total Speed Ranking and then finished 22nd overall. On lap 103 before late chaos kicked into gear, Gibbs was running in 19th. I’ll note, Gibbs was up to 12th on lap 110, but then on the last lap he spun.

Kyle Busch
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Outlook – At the Charlotte Roval, Kyle Busch might just show up and run well. The Roval has been a pretty good track for Busch and in the Next Gen era, Busch ranks 3rd in terms of average finish (6.3), ranks 9th in terms of Driver Rating and has the 9th best Next Gen Speed Ranking. This year at road courses, Busch has had some of his better 2025 afternoons and for the season on this track type minus Mexico where he crashed early in the rain, Busch has 2-top 5’s and a 10.5 average finish. In terms of Track Type Total Speed Rankings this year, Busch is tied for 5th.
Charlotte Roval History – The Charlotte Roval has been a good track for Busch and over the last four races, Busch has a series best 5.8 average finish. The bad news is that last year, Busch had his worst Charlotte performance in a few years and finished 13th. Additionally, Busch ranked 13th in terms of average running position (14.6), earned the 13th best Driver Rating and ranked 14th in terms of Total Speed Rankings. It was simply a low double-digit showing from the #8. In 2023, Busch had a great performance. In the race, Busch had the 2nd best average running position (5.1), earned the 2nd best Driver Rating, led 6 laps and then finished 3rd. In terms of speed stats, Busch had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking and ranked 6th for Speed Late In A Run. In 2022, Busch finished 3rd but you can get out an asterisk mark. On lap 103 before late chaos broke out, Busch was back in 11th. Additionally, Busch ranked 10th for Total Speed Rankings and 10th for Speed Late In A Run. In 2021, Busch led 22 laps, finished 4th and had the 6th best Total Speed Ranking.

Denny Hamlin
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Outlook – At the Charlotte Roval, I think Denny Hamlin is realistically about a teen’s driver, which is largely based off his track record but that might even be optimistic given his 2025 road course form. At the Roval minus a 2023 DNF his average finish is 13th, and he’s had a result in the top 19 every race. This year at road courses, Hamlin’s had a pretty rough season, ranking 30th in terms of Track Type Total Speed Rankings, and having a 17.5 average finish, which even includes a 4th at Chicago.
Charlotte Roval History – At the Charlotte Roval, I would say Denny Hamlin’s been fairly solid, being 5 for 7 at finishing in the top 15 and having a 13th place average finish minus 2023. In the Next Gen, he’s 2 for 2 at finishing in the low teens over his two non-DNF’s (13.5 average finish) and his Next Gen Speed Ranking ranks 23rd. Last year, Hamlin finished 14th, had a 16th place average running position and ranked 19th in terms of Total Speed Rankings. It definitely wasn’t a highlight race for the #11 team, but he did what he needed to do. In 2023, Hamlin had a disaster afternoon and finished 37th. In the race, Hamlin finished 3rd in Stage #2 but that then dropped him way back to begin the final Stage. Back in traffic on lap 74 while running in 21st, Hamlin spun out and banged into a few cars which had the #11 crab walking. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hamlin ranked 21st but take note his speed over the segments were 10th, 12th and then 37th. In 2022, Hamlin started 24th and then finished 13th. That said, you really can’t say Hamlin was as good as his result. In the race, Hamlin’s average running position was 20.6 and on lap 103 before late chaos ensued, he was back in 22nd. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hamlin ranked 24th. In 2021, Hamlin ranked among the best. In the race, Hamlin led the 2nd most laps (25), had the 2nd best average running position (5.9), earned the 2nd best driver rating and then finished 5th. I’ll note, with just 8 to go he was actually the leader. In terms of speed stats, Hamlin ranked 2nd for speed late in a run and Total Speed Rankings.
