On lap 2, Joey Logano passed McDowell for the lead and then led the next 30 laps.

Big: On lap 31, the opening green flag pit cycle started. Ryan Blaney who the first driver to pit, had major issues during his stop which dropped him two laps down. Blaney had driven up to 17th prior to pitting. Some other notables who pitted early were Logano and Larson.

Big: On lap 34 during the opening green flag pit cycle, Chase Briscoe lost a wheel which brought out the caution. Briscoe was running around 20th prior to the pit cycle.

Big: During the Briscoe caution, Denny Hamlin got a speeding penalty which dropped him to the back. Kyle Busch got a penalty at that time too.

Notable: Austin Cindric pitted twice during the SVG caution to tighten a wheel.
