Charlotte Roval Group 1 Driver Practice Notes
AJ Allmendinger – AJ Allmendinger looked good even though he wasn’t happy with his car. In Group 1, Allmendinger had the 2nd best 5-lap average. Allmendinger logged a lot of fast lap times late in a run. Allmendinger said the track was slick and felt way different than years past.
Riley Herbst – A few minutes into practice, Riley Herbst got loose and got into an infield tire barrier. Herbst later returned to the track and his 5-lap average ranked as the 8th best in Group 1.
Ty Gibbs – The #54 looked fast and Gibbs logged good lap times. In Group 1, Gibbs had the best 5-lap average and the best 10-lap average (1 of just 2 drivers in the Group who did that).
Kyle Busch – The #8 car seemed to have respectable pace in practice. Busch wasn’t happy with the tire situation this weekend. Busch never made a 5-lap run.
Alex Bowman – Bowman seemed to be pretty solid in practice. His five-lap average was the 4th best and he was one of just two drivers in Group 1 who did a 10-lap run (2nd best).
