Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Indy 2025

William Byron – William Byron was poised for a top five last year at Indy but finished an asterisk mark 16th. In the race, Byron finished 3rd in Stage #1, finished 4th in Stage #2, had the 2nd best average running position (6.5) but then late in the race, he was low on gas and then in the final turn, he ran out while running in 4th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Byron ranked 2nd.
Chase Briscoe – Chase Briscoe was primed for a top ten last year at Indy but being short on fuel when overtime #2 came out led to his asterisk mark 18th. In the race, Briscoe started on the pole, led 34 laps, had a 7.5 average running position, earned the 6th best Driver Rating, was running in 7th for overtime #2 but then he had to come in for fuel. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Briscoe ranked 7th.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano was poised to be a contender last year at Indy but he finished an asterisk mark 32nd. In the race, Logano used the same winning pit strategy that Bubba Wallace used and was actually ahead of the #23 at the time of his demise which happened on lap 135 while running in 6th when he had a flat tire. Then later, Logano had problems getting going again after his unexpected pit stop, further dooming his afternoon. Then to cap off his race, he crashed in an overtime wreck.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones was a top ten contender last year at Indy, but he finished an asterisk mark 36th. On lap 79, Jones was in 12th (before an extended green flag pit cycle), on lap 90 following his pit stop while running in 9th, he had a loose wheel and slammed into the wall hard, leading to his 36th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Jones ranked 16th with his speed by segment rankings being 4th, 26th and then 16th.
