Indianapolis Brickyard 400 NASCAR Practice Notes

Austin Cindric – During his opening lap, Austin Cindric hit a bump and then said everything turned off. The team changed a lot of electrical components. About mid-way thru practice, Cindric finally got out on the track. Later, Cindric said he lost power again. His dash went off but his engine still had power. Cindric never made a 10-lap run and his 5-lap average ranked 24th.

Denny Hamlin – It was mentioned the #11 team put some extra effort into their car this weekend (can say that for most teams). When practice ended, Hamlin ranked 7th for 5-lap averages and 5th for 10-lap averages. In terms of overall speed, Hamlin ranked 5th.

Kyle Larson – When practice ended, Larson ranked 6th for overall speed and ranked #1 for both 5 and 10-lap averages.

Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs opening 10-lap run was the best among drivers who started with a 10-lap run. 30-minutes into practice, Gibbs jumped up to #1 overall on the speed chart. When practice ended, Gibbs ranked 4th for 5-lap averages, 2nd for 10-lap averages and had the best 15-lap average (of 3). In terms of overall speed, Gibbs ranked 3rd.

Bubba Wallace – Early in practice in the opening minutes, Bubba Wallace slapped the wall and then immediately went to the garage. The damage was said to be “Not bad.” In practice, Wallace ranked 31st for 5-lap averages and 20th for 10-lap averages.
