Carl Edwards had problems very early in the race. Just 13 laps into the event he was having engine issues.
Jamie McMurray pitted early on lap #16. The #1 team was running the race backwards. One reason for this pit strategy was because their car wasn’t very good.
Martin Truex Jr. was in 10th on lap #17. He started in #17th.
Jeff Gordon had a good long run car.
Jimmie Johnson first took the lead passing Denny Hamlin off pit road.
