Fantasy NASCAR Low Tier – Indianapolis
Michael McDowell – At Indy I would look for McDowell to be a high-teens to low-twenties driver. On a weekly basis this season finishing within that range has become a norm. At Indy McDowell hasn’t had any success but his team is performing better now than they ever have before. In two of the last three races at Indy McDowell has finished between 23rd and 26th. Last year McDowell finished 23rd but it’s important to note there was a lot of late carnage. In the race his average running position was 29th. In 2015 he finished 31st. In 2014 he had his next best result and finished 26th. In his four prior Indy races he finished 32nd or worse. (Yahoo C Driver)

Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick’s career highlight was at Indy in 2005 in the Indy Car Series when she finished 4th and led 19 laps. It’s ironic in NASCAR it ranks as one of her worst tracks. It’s home to her worst average finish (30.3) and in 3 of her 4 races she’s finished 27th or worse. Last year at Indy she had her best result and finished 22nd. Additionally in the race she earned the 21st best driver rating and had a 24th place average running position. In 2015 she finished 27th. Performance wise she was really low to mid-teens good. Her misleading result is largely the product of bad late pit strategy. In the race Patrick had a 16th place average running position and earned the 17th best driver rating. In 2014 she ran quite well but her afternoon wasn’t incident free. On lap 68 while she was running in 13th when she left her pit stall she broke her rear axle which led to her 42nd place finish. Landon Cassill – Not a lot of good will come from picking Landon Cassill at Indy. His average finish is 27.6 and over his six starts he’s finished between 20th and 33rd. Last year he tied his best result and finished 20th. If it wasn’t for mass carnage at the end he likely would’ve finished around the mid-twenties. In the two Indy races prior to that he had results of 26th and 30th. At Pocono this spring Cassill finished 27th. (Yahoo C Driver)
David Ragan – In 4 of the last 5 Indy races David Ragan has finished 28th or worse. Since 2009 he hasn’t finished better than 20th. That should make it clear there isn’t much upside with him and performance wise a mid-twenties finish should likely be expected. Last year at Indy Ragan wrecked with 40 laps to go which led to his 37th place finish. Performance wise he was really high-twenties good. In 2015 he had his best recent result and finished 21st. In the two races prior to that he finished 34th and 35th. This spring at Pocono Ragan finished 25th. (Yahoo C Driver)
