Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings – The Clash

Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick is an aggressive driver, and for that reason alone I wouldn’t overlook him in the Clash. Reddick definitely won’t be afraid to ruffle feathers and move others out of the way. At Martinsville, which is the closest of the already existing Cup tracks, Reddick had results of 8th and 18th last year. In terms of Total Speed Rankings over those combined events, Reddick had the 17th best Total Speed Ranking. I’ll note, last week during testing at Phoenix, Reddick was the 2nd fastest driver on Day #1 (Dillon was listed for speeds on Day #2 in the #8). Hopefully that’s a good sign Reddick’s getting a handle on the NextGen.
Austin Cindric – Rookie, Austin Cindric is more than capable of having a solid showing in his #2 debut. I theorize, Penske Racing as an organization is doing a great job at developing the NextGen and just last week during testing at Phoenix, his teammates were 1st and 2nd on the speed chart on day #2. At Martinsville in the lower series, Cindric has been strong. Last fall he finished 2nd, and in his other two starts he has results of 6th and 10th. Cindric is also a road course racing ace, and I think his prowess at that discipline should really help him in the turns at the Coliseum.
AJ Allmendinger – Don’t overlook AJ Allmendinger in the Clash. Back in his Full-time Cup days, Martinsville ranked as one of his very best tracks outside of road courses. Over his last ten Cup starts minus the race he crashed and another where he had an oil leak, Allmendinger had an 8.8 average finish. Also in his Cup career at the “Paper Clip,” Allmendinger had two runner-up’s on his resume. Last year in the lower series at Martinsville, Allmendinger had results of 7th and 13th. I’ll also note, the turns in the Coliseum look very friendly to road course racers and resemble turn 11 of Sonoma to me. Also, as we know from Bristol last year, Allmendinger won’t be afraid to make contact with others.
