The Low Tier – The Clash
Below are Low Tier Drivers for the Clash At The Coliseum. My expectations for them are basement level, and primarily I think they’re the drivers you can pencil in for the “Easy” names who’ll miss the main event.
Michael McDowell – If any low-tier driver is going to make the Clash, McDowell no doubt has the best chance. That said, I’m not expecting anything from him. In 7 of the last 8 Martinsville races, McDowell has finished 23rd or worse. In 2021 at “The Paper Clip”, McDowell had results of 26th and 31st.
Todd Gilliland – Front Row Motorsports has been rolling out rookies on a yearly basis, and Todd Gilliland is the new pilot of the #38. You can’t say it’s been a successful endeavor for the organization. I think Gilliland will look really “Raw” on the track. Last year in the lower series at Martinsville, Gilliland led 133 laps but had problems late and finished 25th.
Landon Cassill, BJ McLeod, Cody Ware – They’ll all show up and get a paycheck! If any of them make the “Main Event” though, I’ll be shocked.
