The Low Tier – Las Vegas
Landon Cassill – At Las Vegas, Landon Cassill will be driving the Spire #77. Among low-tier drivers, Cassill is the best default option you can make and I think he reasonably has mid-twenties potential, once attrition gets factored in. In the Playoffs, Cassill’s raced at both high-speed 1.5-mile tracks and at those venues he had results of 22nd (Texas) and 24th (Kansas).
JJ Yeley – JJ Yeley will be piloting the #15 at Las Vegas. This year at high-speed 1.5-mile tracks, Yeley has raced in both Kansas races having results of 28th (fall) and 31st (spring). Those are his only races on this sub-track type in 2022. On Sunday, look for him to be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver
Cody Ware – Cody Ware will be returning to the #51 at Las Vegas. On Sunday, I would pencil him in as a high-twenties to low-thirties driver. In 2022 at high-speed 1.5-mile tracks minus Charlotte which was an extreme demolition derby for his benefit, Ware has a 30.0 average finish and a 30.5 average running position. This spring at Las Vegas, Ware finished 26th. In 2021, his Las Vegas results were 31st and 32nd.
BJ McLeod – At Las Vegas, look for BJ McLeod to field the least competitive car on the track. In 2022 at high-speed 1.5-mile tracks, McLeod has the worst Total Speed Ranking in the series. In the two Playoff races held on this sub-track type, McLeod has results of 26th (Texas) and 31st (Kansas). This spring at Las Vegas, McLeod finished 28th. On Sunday, look for McLeod to be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver.
