Carson Hocevar
Charlotte Fantasy Outlook – Carson Hocevar might be a driver to watch at Charlotte. He often shows teaser potential at high-speed 1.5’s but more than often under delivers when it comes to the results column. This year at high-speed 1.5’s, Hocevar ranks 13th for Speed but has an 18.9 average finish. In terms of the results column, Hocevar has three results in the top 13 but over the other four he’s finished 22nd or worse. On Sunday, I would view Hocevar as a risky top ten contender.
Charlotte History – Charlotte has been a rough track for Carson Hocevar. He’s 3 for 3 at finishing 21st or worse and has a 26.0 average finish. This spring, Hocevar finished 23rd but I’ll note his afternoon was far from incident free. In the race, Hocevar started 23rd, was back to 33rd on lap 30 and then during the first caution around lap 37 he had an extended pit stop to make major adjustments. Then shortly after that on lap 65 when he was running in the mid 20’s, he had a flat tire and made an unexpected pit stop. When Stage #1 ended, he finished 34th but he did get the free pass during the Stage #1 caution. Then in Stage #2, Hocevar was up to 14th on lap 135 but then during his green flag pit stop he had major problems which dropped him off the lead lap and into the 30’s. From that point on, he really didn’t have any more problems, but he also never fully rebounded again and went on to finish 23rd. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hocevar ranked 23rd with his speed over the segments being 29th, 17th, 28th and then 16th. In 2025, Hocevar was a top five performer but finished an asterisk mark 34th. In the race, Hocevar started 39th, finished Stage #1 in the low 20’s, finished Stage #2 in 4th, finished Stage #3 in 3rd but then on lap 308 during the final Stage restart while running in 2nd, his engine blew up. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hocevar ranked 5th. In 2024, Hocevar finished 21st.

Corey Heim
Charlotte Fantasy Outlook – Corey Heim will be returning to action at Charlotte and on Sunday, I would view him as a teens driver who might potentially sneak in a top ten. Heim is a 2-time winner in 2026 and at Chicagoland which is the most recent 1.5-mile track he’s raced at, he finished 9th.
Charlotte History – This spring at Charlotte, Corey Heim started 39th, had a 24.2 average running position and then finished 19th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, he ranked 25th. Overall, it just wasn’t a competitive evening.

Daniel Suarez
Charlotte Fantasy Outlook – Daniel Suarez won at Charlotte this spring, but I don’t like his odds of a repeat. “Performance Wise”, maybe he was just top ten good this spring and his win is very much so the product of pit strategy and then hanging tough over a few short restarts. This year at high-speed 1.5’s, Suarez has a 12.3 average finish and ranks 15th for Speed. Over the last three visited, he’s finished in exactly 14th place. On Sunday, I would view him as a low double-digit to mid-teens driver.
Charlotte History – At Charlotte in the Next Gen, Daniel Suarez raced his way to victory lane this spring but over the other four Next Gen races he’s finished 23rd or worse. Overall in the Next Gen, Suarez ranks 14th for Speed but his average finish is a down the depth chart 21.8. This spring, Suarez started 14th, made an unexpected pit stop in Stage #1 while running in 11th for a loose wheel which dropped him a lap down to 38th. Then a few laps later, there was a caution and he got the free pass. When Stage #1 ended, Suarez finished 14th. Then in Stage #2 on lap 163 while running in 18th, he made another unexpected pit stop because something didn’t feel right. When Stage #2 ended, he finished about 30th. When Stage #3 ended, Suarez finished about 21st, one lap down. Then in the last Stage, Suarez got a free pass and then during a caution for weather on lap 353, he took two tires which jumped him up from the teen’s to the lead. From that point on, he hung tough in 1st and took home the trophy. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Suarez ranked 13th. Last year, Suarez finished 36th but you can get out an asterisk mark. In the race, Suarez ran in the 20’s for much of his evening, was in 15th on lap 241 but then on lap 245 he was swept up in a multi-car wreck. In 2024, Suarez finished 24th but you can quickly get out an asterisk mark for that result. During the final caution before the rain while running in 13th, Suarez got an equipment interference penalty which dropped him to the back. For the evening, Suarez’s average running position was 13.2, and his Speed Ranking was 15th. In 2023, Suarez finished 23rd but that’s a misleading result. In the race he finished around 11th in Stage #1 but late in Stage #2 on lap 176 while running around 7th he was damaged in a wreck.
