Daniel Suarez
Naval Base Coronado Fantasy Outlook – 2022 Sonoma winner, Daniel Suarez might have dark horse upside at San Diego. The #7 team is running great right now and at Watkins Glen he recently finished 13th. At COTA to start the year on this track type before the #7 team was clicking, he finished a not so great 25th. At road courses over the last five races (since Sonoma 2025), Suarez has a pair of 7th’s, he’s 4 for 5 at finishing in the top 14 and his average finish is 13.2. Heading into the weekend, I would view Suarez as a teen’s driver who’ll have a good chance to finish in the top ten.

Ryan Preece
Naval Base Coronado Fantasy Outlook – At San Diego, I would view Ryan Preece as a teen’s driver who might have a little bit more upside. Preece has been about as solid as they come on this track type and since 2025, Preece ranks 10th for average finish (14.8), 11th for Speed, 12th for average running position (15.3) and 13th for Driver Rating. This year between the two road courses visited, Preece has results of 14th (Watkins Glen) and 18th (COTA) and his average Speed Ranking is 14.0.

Denny Hamlin
Naval Base Coronado Fantasy Outlook – Road course racing hasn’t been a primary area of focus for Denny Hamlin in recent seasons but with the new points system, he’s stepped up his game on this track type and in 2026 at these venues, Hamlin has a 13.0 average finish with results of 10th (COTA) and 16th (Watkins Glen). Going back to last year on this track type over the combined races, Hamlin has a 17.0 average finish, a 20.1 average running position and ranks 26th in terms of Track Type Total Speed Rankings. I’ll also note, Hamlin’s best road course finish since 2025 was a 4th at Chicago, despite starting 40th and that track may very well prove to have the most correlation. The #11 team has been one of the best, week in and week out in 2026 and on Sunday, I would view Hamlin as a teen’s driver who might just sneak in a top ten.
