Austin Dillon
Naval Base Coronado Fantasy Outlook – Austin Dillon recently finished 6th at Watkins Glen (8th best Speed Ranking) so he might have upside, but I think it’s ultimately just best to just view him as a mid-pack driver. At COTA, the other road course visited this year he finished a mid-pack 19th. Overall at road courses since 2025, Dillon ranks 23rd for Speed and his average finish minus Chicago 2025 where he crashed on lap #2 is 22.3.

Zane Smith
Naval Base Coronado Fantasy Outlook – Zane Smith and the #38 team have been showing up with speed in many of the recent races, but I think it would be wise to just have mid-pack expectations at San Diego. Road course racing hasn’t been a strength for Smith on the Cup level and since 2025 on this track type, Smith has a 24.6 average finish, a 24.7 average running position and ranks 29th among drivers tracked for Speed. I’ll note, Smith’s best road course finish since 2025 was a 14th at Chicago (19th best Speed Ranking), and that may very well prove to be the track with the most correlation. This year at road courses, Smith has a 22.0 average Speed Ranking and has results of 18th (Watkins Glen) and 33rd (COTA).

Todd Gilliland
Naval Base Coronado Fantasy Outlook – Todd Gilliland can sometimes sneak in respectable results at road courses, but I think it’s best to just have mid-pack expectations heading to San Diego. Since 2025 on this track type, Gilliland has a 21.9 average finish, a 24.2 average running position and ranks 30th for Speed. This year at the two visited, Gilliland has had mid-pack results of 17th (Watkins Glen) and 21st (COTA).
